Frequently Asked Questions

1) What kind of chips do you support?
At this time, jNet supports two device families and their derivatives from Samsung Electronics. One family is based on 32-bit ARM, and the other on 16-bit CalmRISC16 family.

2) Can you port your Global Platform Operating System to other architectures?
Yes, assuming that your architectures are based on modern 16- or 32-bit CPUs, jNet can quickly port any product to a platform of your choice.

3) Are 8-bit devices supported?
Contact jNet for a product roadmap of our future 8-bit offerings.

4) Is it possible to license a previous version of Global Platform, also known as Visa Open Platform as a standalone product?
Yes, we can build a pure Visa Open Platform implementation in any of the Visa specified configurations, i.e. Configuration-1, 2. and 3.

5) Can we license jNet's Global Platform implementation with a proprietary crypto APIs?
Yes, our crypto library is very modular. The DES, AES, SHA-1, and MD5 are standard crypto algorithms offered on all products. The rest, including RSA, ECC can be optionally added on demand. In addition, we offer a Korean crypto Java APIs that support Seed, KCDSA, and are now working on EC-KCDSA version. jNet can develop a proprietary Java API package and integrate it in ROM to provide crypto services for all post-issuance applets.

6) Is it possible to license a VSDC and PSE applets integrated in ROM?
Yes, these are available for licensing and can be included in a ROM mask. Contact jNet for details.

7) How fast is your Java execution engine?
We have developed an extensive set of benchmarks which we used to optimize and fine tune our Java execution engine at its best. We also relied on them to compare our execution speed to our competition and make sure we offer the best speed/cost combination on the market today. Contact jNet for performance results.
